AN OLDIE, BUT A GOODIE!
PORT CANAVERAL
We’re starting out at the terminal, a little after 10am. It was a busy time today at the parking lot. Lots of people coming and going. Ended up on level 4 before we started seeing spots. A bit of a tip when parking, try to find a spot near the elevators. That way you just take them to level 2 and cross over the bridge and right into the terminal. It is super easy. Once we crossed the bridge it was a bit of a cluster with the agents. Since we’re Platinum, they told us we had to go in one line, then that person asked why we were there and we just needed to head inside. Not the end of the world, wasted a couple of minutes. Once inside they were lining people up against the wall, so the drug-sniffing dog was able to walk past you and do its job. Once clear, then you go through security and into the waiting terminal area. Since we’re Platinum status, we headed to our section of the terminal. Diamond-Tier guests (highest level) have their own room. Faster to the Fun has their own section, and general guests (Blue, Red & Gold) all have the general area.
(Inside the terminal area)
So, once they start boarding they will go with Diamond, followed by Platinum, Faster to the Fun and then finally general boarding. All within minutes of one another. After doing 41 cruises, these boarding processes are generally never the same. As time has gone on it’s been more similar, but always a little bit different. Note you will not get your stateroom cards until you get to your cabin. As a Platinum guest (as well as Diamond and Faster to the Fun) we can go and drop off our luggage as soon as we board the ship.
By 10:30am we had gone through everything and at 10:45am we were ready to board the ship. This process and timeframe has been an improvement from what we’ve experienced over the years. Generally, years ago it would be more around the 11am to noon timeframe. Again, just depends on the terminal more than anything else.
Once we got onto the actual ship, we headed right to our muster station, which was outside on deck 4. We checked in and watched the crew member do a very quick demonstration on how to put on your life vests. No more than 5 minutes doing this. I have to thank Covid for this one. Remember being out there in the sun, packed like sardines and sweating and standing around for a long time to do this? Oh my I don’t miss those days! So now our time has come to start our vacation!
(On our way out to sea. You might be able to see a rocket launch from the port.)
We’re now going to take you on a deck-by-deck tour of the Carnival Glory. This is our 3rd time on this ship, you can check out the other reviews as well. We’ve been on this class of ship 9 times, so we know it like the back of our hands. We really booked this trip mainly for that reason, we just wanted a easy cruise. Not much thought into it at all. We know the layout, we know the shows, we know what to expect. As a veteran cruiser, it’s just easier sometimes. This will also mark our 41st cruise. 18th cruise with Carnival.
Also want to mention to make sure you head to our YouTube channel (@CruiseAddictJunkie), we will have videos from this cruise, as well as other cruises and a lot of other adventures we go on. Make sure to subscribe!
DECK 2
STATEROOM 2325
We’re starting on deck 2, mid-ship. We went with an over-priced interior stateroom. It was high due to the holiday weekend. Also got a ton of OBC (On Board Credit). Back to the room. We’ve had this category of room several times before, so we didn’t expect much at all. We first dropped off our luggage once we boarded, then came back around 2pm (cabins open to public at 1:30pm). We settled in and unpacked everything. Our stateroom attendant came and introduced himself, asked what time we wanted our room cleaned everyday, since it’s only once a day (used to be twice, before Covid). We told him to come at night while we’re at dinner (around 6pm). He said okay and wrote it down, well that never happened. He came during the daytime everyday. Not the end of the world. It was more of pay a bit better attention. I have to say the stateroom crew members are not the same as they used to be back in the day. They used to remember your names and were always around. Nowadays, they usually never remember your name and rarely ever see them.
Overall our stateroom was cleaned, no dust or anything like that. TV channels were very basic, few movie channels, no news channels. The bed was not comfy at all, it was two twin beds, with padding and they kept sinking into the middle. Slept crappy. Which I figured it would be better, considering the ship just came out of dry dock a week or so earlier. The other major annoyance was the other passengers. EVERY NIGHT, we’d hear kids running and stomping their feet up and down the hallway. People talking loud and yelling. Not much consideration at all from some people. At times even general people walking and talking normally would easily be heard from the room. Mind you we were towards the middle of the ship, between two elevators. I’d say if you want quieter nights maybe stick to the very front or even back of the ship, not sure if that will help as much or not. It was just a lot at times. Got better later in the cruise, but not a ton.
(Shout out to Cory our Hotel Director, Diana in the Platinum dining room and everyone else for an amazing cruise. Had a really good time!)
DECK 3
AMBER PALACE MAIN SHOW LOUNGE
A big tip right now we’re going to give you. On embarkation day (which never happens), they had the Fun Ashore, Fun Aboard presentation. Now if you don’t know what this is, its basically a run down of what to expect on the ship as well as the ports of call we’re going to. Very informative. Also, they give away a lot of prizes, such as dinner at the steakhouse, shore excursions and a lot of other great things. We did not win. HOWEVER, people right in front and behind me did. All I’m saying is your chances are really good. Not many people came to this due to when it was happening, so your chances were a lot better. Either way a highly suggested event to attend if possible.
(Our cruise director Gabby.)
We decided to try our luck at the Love & Marriage Game Show. Now before hand I asked my wife, you want to try and get on the show? She actually agreed and I did what I had to do to get us on there. Mind you this was a daytime show and I’d say the theatre was about 40% full. So the night crowds and chaos was not there. It was like pulling teeth to get anyone who were newly wed and the oldest couple. Us, say no more! We have 13 years going. Once on stage we got our clipboard and pen. Gabby our cruise director would ask us questions and we’d write down the answers. My wife and I have seen this show a bunch of times and we kinda already knew what we’d have answers on. Some questions made no sense, one referring to football and the other what would you make bigger on your spouse. Now we don’t care and we answer. Most of it we did to get a rise from the audience. We wanted everyone to have an amazing time. We had about 30 or 40 people come up to us the rest of the cruise telling us that they LOVED us on the show and made it that much more fun to watch. Reminded me of the good ole Carnival days when everyone knew you around the ship. Missed those days.
Our production show was Epic Rock. We’ve seen this countless times before. Always a good show, you can see that some of the acrobats were scaled down, we noticed this as well on Royal. Assuming for safety reasons. Most won’t notice it at all. The show we stayed for most of it, left a few minutes early to catch comedy. Overall the singers and dancers were all very good. The songs we enjoyed. We did recognize one of the singers, Darcy from another cruise last year. We ran into him at the coffee shop, we talked for a bit. It was the casts last week on the ship. Again we enjoyed the show and the performers a lot. Great cast.
(Stage setup for Epic Rock.)(Such an incredible cast.)
COLORS LOBBY (GUEST SERVICES & SHORE EXCURSIONS)
The lobby is where you will enter the ship. As soon as you do, you’re head to your muster stations to check in and complete your muster drill. Other than that you will find this area to be where some trivia and nightly music will happen. Also if you need to book shore excursions or visit guest services you can do that here as well. If you need to view any charges, you can use one of the machines here or on deck 5 near the elevators. Did notice some space has been taken over by the portraits studio, which kind of sucks.
(This machine will show you your Sail & Sign account folio, also you can add money if you wish. There is one in front of Guest Services on Deck 3 and the other in front of the Logo Fun Shops on Deck 5, near the elevator. You can also use the app to check your account.)
WALKING DECK
You can also access the walking decks from the lobby. Really nice part of the ship that is never too busy with people.
GOLDEN FORWARD RESTAURANT (ANY TIME DINING) (FREE)
The forward/mid dining room, located on decks 3 & 4 is the Golden Restaurant. This is where they have the any time dining as well as the Dr Suess character dining. Our only chance to come here, was actually on formal night. We were invited out to meet with the Executive Head Chef and do a tasting of tonight’s menu. We met with the team before hand and then headed into the kitchen, mind you we’re dressed in our formal attire and we’re walking back here like Henry and Karen in Goodfellas, it was great. So we met up with the Executive Head Chef and he gave us a little bit of a tour of the galley/kitchen. Then he gave us a tasting of several options on tonight’s menu. It was a really great experience. Thank you again to the Hotel Director Cory Robert Winter and Carnival Glory for setting this up for us, we had a great time. Always love the behind the scenes stuff so much. After this we had a few minutes to digest and walk it off on our way to the Platinum Restaurant for actual dinner!
(The Birthday Breakfast is an additional cost. We originally had it booked, assuming it was only on sea days, but found out a couple days before we sailed that it was actually on our Bimini day. So we ended up cancelling it. When we did walk by the dining room on the sea day it did not seem too busy at all.)
PLATINUM AFT RESTAURANT (EARLY & LATE DINING) (FREE)
On decks 3 & 4 is the Platinum Restaurant. Open for breakfast, brunch and for early and late seating dining. This was our main dining room. Let’s start with brunch. We’ve never had a good brunch with Carnival, just one of those things that just never happens. We came during our first day at sea for 8:30am. About 10 minutes later the bar staff comes around to take our drink order (used our Platinum perks for brunch cocktails). Around 9am, we’ve yet to get any food, no one came over to offer us juice or pastries. Finally at around 9:10am, they came out with our drinks and shortly after our food. Seriously the timeframe on this ship for any type of food was just terrible. Onto the food we got for sea day brunch.
NIGHT 1 - DINNER MENU
(We did not dine here on the first night.)SEADAY BRUNCH MENU
Griddle Cakes (6/10) – Not too flavorful at all, best thing was the hashbrown.
Voyage Burger (6.5/10) – This was decent. I opted not to add the egg to it. Overall burger was decently cooked, some flavor. I went with a side of mozzarella sticks that were just over breaded and had no flavor and was just so oily.
NIGHT 2 - DINNER MENU (FORMAL NIGHT)
Our next meal here was on formal night. We had a 8-top table and had two other couples with us for dinner. Really great since we haven’t sat with people at dinner in years. Service was much better at night, great staff. Like we mentioned above, we did a tasting with the Executive Head Chef on this menu, so we already knew what we enjoyed and didn’t care too much for. Overall it was somewhat night and day foodwise tonight. Was not a fan of dinner. Never got a chance to even have dessert. Here is what we had.
Crispy Butter Milk Calamari (4/10) – This was very overdone and so chewy it was like eating a rubber band.
Chilled Strawberry & Chia Seed Soup (7/10) – My wife always enjoys this soup. Me, it’s a melted strawberry shake, which I don’t like on a normal day. She’d give it a 8, I’d say 6. We end up in the middle at 7.
Roasted Vegetable Lasagna (6/10) – Not that flavorful at all. Wouldn’t get again.
Broiled Strip Loin Steak (4.5/10) – This was a very chewy and fatty cut of meat. Char was the only thing saving this, which was good. Really miss the flat iron steaks they used to have, those were amazing. They did get the cook temperature good, I’ll give them that. Just the cut was not the best.
For some reason I never took a picture of the steak. It was just a basic looking steak, on the thinner side. Again nothing to write home about and wouldn't like waste the time getting it again. I say that now. lol
NIGHT 3 - DINNER MENU
Our final dinner was also here in the dining room. Met our other couple who joined us, very nice. Not many people at dinner tonight, which was nice. Food was something left to be desired. Service was a 10/10, Rolando was incredible.
Fried Tomatoes (7/10) – These were cooked well, flavor was nice.
Parched Pig Ale and Cheddar Soup (9/10) - If I knew this would have been this good, I’d order a gallon of it. I loved it. Probably the best thing I ate on the ship.
Penne Mariscos (6.5/10) – This was decent, nothing amazing.
Coffee Glazed Roast Duck (5/10) – Tasted just like my brisket. Not actual coffee flavor and very overdone.
Braised Beef Brisket (5/10) – Very overdone, did not enjoy at all.
Carnival Melting Chocolate Cake (6/10) - Remind me next time that I don't like this. Just not a fan of it. I think it’s a very rich and watery dessert.
Cheese Plate (7/10) – Am I really rating cheeses? Sad it was one of the more enjoyable things we ate tonight.
DECK 4
IVORY CLUB LOUNGE ($$$ - DRINKS)
This is a very spacious and generally quiet lounge outside of the Platinum Restaurant. Usually reserved for karaoke. I personally have always felt that this area could be used for so much more, maybe even a restaurant, which the ship does lack.
DECK 5
THE FUN SHOPS ($$$)
We only went in for my ship model, but the shops do offer a lot of Carnival logo items as well as jewelry on the opposite side.
(This was an older photo we took.) |
CHERRY ON TOP ($$$)
We noticed this is a scaled back version compared to other locations on other Carnival ships. I remember the days before this location where you could rent a tuxedo for formal night. For now days this location has some candy options, nothing too crazy. Save your money and just bring some from home instead.
HEROES TRIBUTE BAR ($$$)
The Carnival Glory just came out of refurbishment. One of the added venues is the Heroes Tribute Bar. You’ll find these on the newer ships and a great addition to the fleet. When we started cruising on Glory, we had One the Green Sports Bar which was a cheeky golf-themed bar, to the EA Sports Bar and now the Heroes Tribute Bar. This is by far the best option.
CAMEL CLUB CASINO & CASINO BAR ($$$)
We donated a bit, not really sure how my wife did. But I did crappy like usual. Other people did win a good amount that we saw. Our promo had free drinks while playing in the casino, so we took advantage here and there of that. Problem with that is the we have to chase the bar tenders down since they never came around. Also for being Platinum status we each got $25 free play, which in order to activate we had to go to the cashier and they would add it on their end.
(They offered nightly entertainment.) |
(This was the standard drink menu on the ship. You can get most of these options at just about every bar.) |
JAVA BLUE CAFÉ & CARNIVAL ADVENTURES ($$$)
This is the place to get coffee. Also usually always had a line. Much like Guy’s and BlueIguana, you’d likely be waiting 20 to 30 minutes just for a coffee. It was ridiculous at times. When we went it was generally okay. A tip, they have a punch card, where you get 6 drinks and get one for free. Now we’ve been doing this for years and actually surprised they still kept this little hidden gem. Just ask them when you head over. Besides coffee we also tried out their overpriced, I mean oversized cookies. It was just larger versions of their terrible cookies from the buffet. Not impressed.
(Also these were VERY overpriced. You know, like Gideon's at Disney Springs.) |
(Just a small shop that you can buy some things. This used to be the future cruise and internet desk area.) |
(This is for the coffee drinkers. They've had this card for years and not too many people know about it. Basically 6 punches you get a free coffee.) |
THE WAREHOUSE ARCADE ($$$)
Here is the arcade on the ship. We did see someone win a pair of headphones.
WHITE HEAT DANCE CLUB
Never came to the night club at all during our trip. Mainly saw it used for the art auction. Never heard anyone even mention the night club at all.
ALCHEMY BAR ($$$)
Have to say this location lacks compared to the one on Mardi Gras. Less options and didn’t have the vibe to it. Mainly saw a few people drinking here and there, but mainly a stopping point for people going to comedy and the promenade.
THE CINN-A-BAR PIANO BAR ($$$ - DRINKS)
Next door is the Piano Bar. Opened mainly at night. We popped our heads in for a few seconds. Never ended up staying. It’s a hit or miss venue for us.
BAR BLUE LOUNGE ($$$ - DRINKS)
I don’t recall ever seeing anyone ever use this venue at all. This used to be used for jazz music or even karaoke, but nothing that we saw. Seemed like a nice venue.
EBONY CABARET AFT LOUNGE ($$$ - DRINKS)
This was the lounge mainly for the comedy shows. We went to three of the shows, all with one of the comedians, Michael Macy. We had him prior on a cruise. He was absolutely hilarious. We went to both of his PG shows and one of the R-rated ones. He picked on the crowd, but not bad at all. It was all fun and light-hearted. Really enjoyed his shows. The PG show was actually a repeat set, we went and after a bottle of wine each, we laughed even harder! On the last day of the cruise at 11pm or so, both comedians were in the Amber Palace Theater doing shows, we did not stay up for that. A tip, get to these shows early. One of the nights we had a 8:30pm show, doors opened at 8pm. At 7:50pm we were lined up back near Java Blue. Now grated the line moved very quickly and everyone in line was able to get a seat. 10 minutes until the show on that night it was still open and a lot of seats still available. We’ve been to a lot of shows and it’s just hit or miss.
DECK 9
TURQUOISE POOL – LIDO POOL (CARNIVAL SEASIDE THEATER)
As soon as you step out onto the Lido deck you come to the main pool (only two on the ship). The pool was always packed, even the Azure Pool was always the same way. Couldn’t even get in at times even if you wanted to. Back in the day they used to actually have 4 pools on the ship. This one, the aft, but also one in the gym and the other where the water slide currently is. They also played movies as well at certain points. Again always very busy, especially during the day. One thing we noticed a lot was there seemed to always be kids in the hot tubs. Isn’t there restrictions on that? I know when I was a kid I was never allowed in them.
BLUEIGUANA TEQUILA BAR ($$$)
Our first drinks of the cruise were here. Also the last time I listened to my wife on a recommendation. She went with one of the Thirsty Frog brews, which was good. I had the Blues "Dos XX" Michelada Beer, which was Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco and Dos Equis Beer. I won’t say it was terrible, but it wasn’t for me at all. It was like drinking a cocktail sauce flavored beer.
REDFROG RUM BAR ($$$)
Across from the BlueIguana is the RedFrog Rum Bar. I personally prefer drinks from here, since I’m more of a rum person. Either way these are both really fun bar options. Our last cruise on Glory was the 2.0 upgrades which included these two bars and a few other venues. They really should add the RedFrog Pub to this ship, would work great.
GUY’S BURGER JOINT (FREE)
A tip on embarkation day, get here early to grab a bite. This place always had two LONG lines and took at times over 30 to 40 minutes just for a burger. It was ridiculous. At points I just picked at some items at the buffet or just had bread since all the lines were so long and moving so slowly. Disney’s Epcot during a Festival in summer wasn’t even that bad.
BLUEIGUANA CANTINA (FREE)
This has to be one of the most underrated breakfast options on the ship. The burritos here are customizable and very delicious. They also offer taco options and arepas. Only problem with the arepas was that they were cold, even under a heat lamp. Other than that they have a full toppings bar. Also opened for lunch, which lines here as well are very long at times. One of our favorite spots.
(Breakfast Menu) |
(Lunch Menu) |
RED SAIL LIDO RESTAURANT (BUFFET) (FREE)
The Lido buffet has 4 sections. Two in the front and two in the back. Lunch we noticed that they offered different options, which at night it was similar to the dining room menus and breakfast was standard. Omelet stations throughout. Also note, there is no Mongolian Wok any longer.
Another tip we have, in the back part of the buffet you will see a set of stairs heading up to deck 10. If you walk up there they will have the BBQ station. We went up for lunch a few times. Food is decent. Couple of meat options and some sides available. Not the worst food. It’s also a lot quieter. In general at the buffet section the lines moved fairly quickly.
In between each section of the buffet you will find Sushi at Sea, open select times, that is for an additional charge. Which back in the day was free on Carnival at the Taste Bar on the Promenade.
The other free option on the opposite side was the deli. This line was always long. Even when it was only a few people it took time. I want to say a woman working there was the nicest person in the world and had a smile a mile long put love into everything she made. Hence the line. But she took pride in it. Could she have been faster, oh yea! But at least she was there morning, noon and night making some great sandwiches.
PIZZA PIRATE (FREE)
On the first day it was probably 11am or so, I come back here and try to get some pizza. Figured no line and I can get something and be good. I go up to the counter and the woman comes up and I ask what pizza do you have? She’s like which do you want? I said whatever you have ready, I’m not picky. She said another 5 to 10 minutes, nothing is cooking. So I just left. You know its going to get busy, why do you not have anything ready? Made no sense to me at all.
On our sea day we came back here again. This time my wife went in line, and no lie it took her over 40 minutes just for a couple of slices. Carnival STOP with this hand tossing dough, invest in the pizza press and just get this done and out. These lines for food were ridiculous. You’d seriously be spending a couple of ours if you just wanted a burrito, slice of pizza and a burger. Also at this venue all we ever see them make is pepperoni and the white pizza. Never once saw the other options ever made.
After our day at Bimini and we got back on the ship, I came here (since lines everywhere else was very long). The woman said no pizza, 5 to 10 minutes. I said that is not good. She laughed and repeated what I said. I told her that’s not a joke, every time we come back here you don’t have anything actually made, its ridiculous. Make the pizza, worst case you heat the slices up, not having to cook everything and make people wait for 5 to 10 minutes. So I went back about 20 minutes later. I see a guy in back washing pans, so I’m testing this out at this point. He sees me and walks over and asks what I want to eat. I asked what do you have. He walks and grabs the pizzas sitting on the oven and comes out. I look at him and just say I’m good and leave. At no point did he wash or dry his hands. I don’t care if you’re washing or doing whatever, clean your hands before you touch food. Plain and simple. My wife even said when she was waiting forever for a slice she noticed a pizza dough drop. She can’t confirm if she threw it out or not, she's assuming she did. But never stopped to wash your hands. We wonder why people get sick.
SEAFOOD SHACK ($$$)
This is never a hot spot on any cruise that we’ve noticed. It wasn’t something we really wanted to run to, since most options were fried. On a hot day, it’s not something we go to. Never seen the food here so cannot really say much about it. Do wish they offered a free option here, like Royal Caribbean does on some of their ships.
AZURE LIDO POOL & POOL BAR ($$$ - DRINKS)
Here is the second pool on Glory. Again another generally packed pool. Not sure why they decided that two small pools was enough, but it’s not. Never used either pool. However if it does rain, the roof will close above the pool.
DECK 10
EMERALD ROOM STEAKHOUSE ($$$)
We came here on our first night. Mainly because we get a free house wine on night one of specialty dining. The price for adults is $45 (tip included) and that includes, appetizer, soup, entrée and dessert. That is a deal! Our last steakhouse on Carnival was on Carnival Magic and that was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had on a cruise. This time was one of our better times luckily. The staff was amazing, very attentive to the tables. Not running around with their heads cut off like on Magic. Food on the other hand…. Was GREAT!!!! Everything we had, we’ve had before, but this time just tasted better. From the apps to the steaks, we left beyond full. Put it to you this way, I’m a big boy and I love my food. I ate so much, I didn’t eat again until the next afternoon. Plus I wasn’t letting those steaks go to waste.
I’ve always said this about the steakhouses on Carnival, will it be the best steak you’ll ever have? For most no. Will it be a really good steak with good flavor and good quality? Yes. It’s always 100% worth it in our opinion. I can tell you in Orlando you’ll be paying $45 for just the steak, if you’re lucky.
(We love that they have these beautiful plates and then 2 seconds after sitting down they take them. Gotta love it!) |
(The bread was pretty decent.) |
Cheeseburger (Chefs Compliments) (8/10) – This burger packs the flavor and the char on it was amazing.
Stuffed Mushrooms (7.5/10) – A good dish, good flavors. Came with this mushroom tea to dip them in. Very enjoyable dish.
Risotto (8/10) – They cooked it perfectly. Had a bit of a heavy lemon flavor for some reason. It also was filled with crab and mushrooms. Overall came together pretty good.
Classic Caesar Salad (6/10) - As basic as you can get, not too impressive. The garlic croutons were the best part.
Maine Lobster Bisque (8.5/10) – We love a good lobster bisque, which is hard to come by. This one was really tasty. Not much lobster in it, but still very good.
USDA Prime New York Strip Loin Steak (9/10) – This was a 14oz portion and cooked to perfection, great flavors.
Baked Potato w/ Trimmings (8.5/10) – I generally don’t get baked potatoes on a cruise since they are always too hard and never fully cooked. However, that rare chance you get one like we did, which a perfect outside and a light and fluffy inside, you’re golden. The sides here we got were incredible.
Spice-Rubbed USDA Prime Ribeye (9/10) - This was a 18oz version. I was worried about the spice-rub, but it was really good. Cooked to perfection as well.
Onion Rings (8.5/10) – This was one of the sides we got. It was good as you can get with an onion rings. Very satisfied.
Cheesecake with Hazelnut Biscuit (7/10) – This was a decent cheesecake. I love a good cheesecake, but this was a decent one at best for me. Flavors were good and if you’re wanting a cheesecake this will be fine. I wasn’t a love of the texture, I want to say it was a ricotta cheesecake. Overall not the worst, not the best.
Raspberry Sherbet (8/10) – Very flavorful ice cream.
Cookies and Cream Ice Cream (6/10) – This was good, not great.
DECK 11
SPA CARNIVAL (FREE GYM & SAUNA)
I really wasn’t planning to come here at all, but I was doing the video tour and just came in. The do have saunas that are free to use, as well as a very nice gym. They also offer other spa amenities for an additional fee. Day one they offer a spa raffle and massage tasters.
SPORTS DECK
Here is the basket ball court. You can also access mini golf from here. I never got a chance to go up there at all.
(Note this is an older image, but not much has changed here.) |
(Note this is an older image, but not much has changed here.) |
(Access to mini golf was through the basketball court and up the stairs. This is free to do.) |
DECK 12
SERENITY ADULT-ONLY RETREAT (FREE)
We did relax here on our sea day towards sun down. Generally was very quiet the few times we came up here. This is an adult-only section. Free to come and hang out in at any point during the cruise. Also they offer a bar, which is open a limited time.
DECK 14
CARNIVAL WATERWORKS WATER SLIDES
They did upgrade the slides at some point since we were on last. Nice to have, but sucks they had to get rid of a pool for them. I always say this is one of the best views you’ll get on the ship.
BIMINI, BAHAMAS
RESORTS WORLD POOL & BEACH EXPERIENCE ($40.99/ADULT) ($30.99/CHILD)
(Map of the location we were at.) |
*NOTE - This is a CASHLESS location, you have to bring a credit card in order to make any purchases. This is NOT noted on the app or said at any point. We found this out once we arrived and say signs at the venue.
We ended up booking the Resorts World Pool & Beach Experience. Our day started by getting off the ship and walking down the pier to the trams. On the ground near the trams are stickers for where you need to go. Very easy to navigate. So we got our wristbands and hopped on the tram and took the short ride over to the pool/beach area.
(This is the port area. Taking a photo from the top of the ship. Note at the end of the pier on the right is the free beach.) |
Once we got to the location we got off the tram and the staff was kind of rushing everyone to get the welcome drink. We decided not to at that moment and just head to the pool area to grab our spot for the day. You had up until noon to get the drink, it was only 9am at this point in time. We headed over to the pool area on the right side for adults only, keep that thought in mind for a minute. That is mainly why we booked this excursion. They had plenty of seating around the pool area. The setup was similar to Hideaway Beach at Perfect Day at Coco Cay. Once we got our spot, we decided to talk a walk around and check out the beach and location a bit more.

After 20 minutes or so we headed back to get in the pool. Grabbed our drinks and decided to relax. I mentioned already that this was a adults only pool, the family pool is just on the other side of the area. There is a sign as soon as you enter. So we happen to notice a child in the pool, okay no worries, staff should tell them that this is the adults only pool. Another family comes with even more kids. This time the kids are in diapers. Still the staff is doing nothing at all, they see it, they are walking by, but not saying anything. I go to my wife, they probably don’t know, so said should I let them know. I said yes, mainly because we didn’t want to see them get settled and the staff come over later on and say to them they had to move and there were no spots at the family pool area. Well my wife went over and explained to them, just to give them a heads up. The woman got an attitude and said she didn’t see the sign and continued to give an attitude to my wife. So my wife swam away. The family got out of the pool all pissy and moved to the other pool. Then some of them came back and started doing cannon balls into the pool and saying they had to go to the family pool since they weren’t allowed over at this pool. Basically those were the “children” that needed to leave. So after that it kind of put a damper on things, since we were just informing them so they didn’t get too settled in. Also if we wanted to be a-holes, then yes this is adults only, read the signs. Its why we paid to come here. Either way the staff only came once to remove some other children at the other end. Other than that some teenage kids were in the pool, wasn’t worth saying anything else at that point.

After a while the DJ started up and was playing music. Some of which was NOT family friendly and another reason young kids shouldn’t have been over there. So to that family, you’re welcome. The songs were all over the place, a lot of odd ones where a lot of people were wondering what they were even playing. Made no sense. Other’s had people up and twerking and line dancing. It was fun at times.
We took a bit of a pool break to go back to the beach, it was stunning. Water temperature was nice as well. Didn’t go in past the knees. After a walk up and down, we went back to the pool.
Only thing we can kind of compare this place to would be Hideaway Beach at Perfect Day at Coco Cay (Royal Caribbean). It was similar in parts, as they both had large pools, with DJ’s and beaches. The pool temperature was better here than at Hideaway Beach, since the Hideaway Beach pool is temperature controlled and on the warmer side. The pool itself was good at both locations, if I had to pick I think the setup of Hideaway Beach was better, slightly. Also they had a swim up bar, when this one did not, only bars were out of the pool area. As for the beach, both were nice, but the color of the water and setup here we felt was a bit nicer than Hideaway Beach. As for food options, we had restaurants available, nothing crazy, you also needed a credit card. Hideaway Beach had pizza, burgers and things like that, which were included, so they get the win there. Overall both great options, similar in ways to one another. If we had to pick where we’d go back to tomorrow, I’d have to say Hideaway Beach at Perfect Day at Coco Cay. We had a better time there, the DJ music was better, more of a party feel, but not overwhelming at all, also adults only. Have nothing against kids at all. But sometimes you want to not hear the screaming at times.

Another thing I want to mention. In the description of the excursion it has that we can explore the beach, pool, restaurants, bars and casino. Some of the restaurants and casino are NOT at this location. The tram does go to these other locations. Also they mention a swim-up bar, not at this location and a rooftop pool at the hotel, again not at this location. So you have to take the tram to these other locations. The description is very vague. We assumed everything was at one location, in reality it is spread out over different areas of the island. Truthfully it wasn’t a big deal for us, but again we just want to help others looking to book this excursion.
Overall this was a good excursion if you’re looking for a pool and/or beach. For the adults only part, it’s something left to be desired. Would we come back? Doubtful, only because of the free beach that is offered, which I’m going to talk a little bit about now. Biggest takeaway, bring a credit card and cash as well. Cash might not be accepted at all spots, but better to have than not.
At the end of the pier (within walking distance of the ship) is the free beach on the right. This looked incredible. ONLY reason we didn’t stick with this option was before we left we checked water temps and it was reported to be in the 80s, very warm, however the beach at the area we were at was perfect and actually a bit chilly in points. However if we ever come back again, we will do the free beach. It did not look crowded at all and looked stunning. Reminded us a lot of the water at Half Moon Cay.

As we come to an end of our tour of the Carnival Glory and review of the ship and where we went, we wanted to say thank you for taking the time to read this. Really do hope to help some of you if you're looking to head on the ship anytime soon or even to Bimini.
Our leave you with our final morning on the Carnival Glory, as we headed outside to watch the sunrise. Overall we had a nice getaway and met a lot of great people. Had some misses with dining across the board and other parts. Overall a great trip. Really enjoyed coming back to this class of ship and having the time we did. Kind of felt like the older days when you'd come across a lot of people on the ship, you got to know them and they got to know you a bit. I can say the larger ships you don't get that at all. So it was nice to get on one of the "smaller" ships and enjoy that part of it. Now I said "smaller", these used to be one of the larger ones back when we started cruising, but now are babies next to everything else. Worth doing again? YES!
Thanks so much for the info!! Very helpful as this will be our first cruise on the Glory or at all. lol great help!
ReplyDeleteIs there a formal night on a 3 day cruise?
ReplyDeleteLove this view! We've been going on the large ships and I love hearing that this ship feels like the old days of meeting people and seeing them again. I loved that feeling. We'll be on the Glory in September.
ReplyDeleteVery helpful review. We will try that free beach
