After what felt like an eternity, we're finally back on a Carnival Cruise. So, has anything changed since our last trip on a "Fun Ship"? Let's get into it!
This was a cruise that my wife and I decided to book for each other as a Christmas gift to each other, we did splurge a bit and booked a suite stateroom, which was a first for us. Like I said before we haven't been on a Carnival cruise in close to 2 years, which is a bit of a stretch for us. We were both excited to get back on one, also to finish off the Conquest Class ships, which our first ever cruise was on Valor, since then we've done, Freedom, Glory and Conquest. As usual leading up to the trip we watched countless YouTube videos and read up on Liberty as much as we could to get a feel for things. Excited to hear and see some changes that Carnival has been doing overall.
So lets fast forward to the day of. We sailed out of Port Canaveral, which is our home port. It was nice to take a break from Disney World and go on vacation! Bet you don't hear that everyday! So getting to the terminal like usual was easy, until you get to the port and have no signs telling you where to go and no one in sight. Don't worry it's not a huge port like Everglades or Miami, Canaveral is simple, just drive in the direction of your ship. Eventually you will find someone to help you if you get lost.
In the terminal it was pretty smooth and quick. The holding area for Suite Guests was pretty depressing compared to other terminals, even the Valor terminal we were at on the other side of the port was amazing compared to this lackluster location. However, we were on in no time at all. Now usually we are not allowed to the rooms until 1pm, or somewhere around that timeframe, but we ended up going right to our room and keys were outside in the mail box, so that is an indication that the room was ready, which it was. I will go more into detail with the room and other parts of the ship below.
Throughout the trip we did notice overall a difference in Carnival and how it compared to a few years prior. Seems like the have made some minor changes which really do add up to a good cruise experience. Still improvement is needed, but the direction which Carnival is going is a great direction. Considering we were on an older ship, we had a really good trip.
Overall the trip was good, got to relax a bit and enjoy ourselves. Loved the fact that we've finally finished the Conquest Class ships. That meant a lot to me, ever since we've started cruising. This class always had a special place in my heart.
Moving forward, I think we can safely put away the Conquest class and the older ships from Carnival, unless an amazing deal arises that we can't say no to. After the cruise, and even during we did decided on one thing moving forward, for our personal preference. That is we want the larger ships, we want the newer ships. Luckily Carnival is giving us just that soon with a new terminal and new ship coming to Port Canaveral. We have been looking at their newer class ships, but have not set anything yet. We do know that our next Carnival cruise will likely be on a newer ship.
So who's ready for a tour around Carnival Liberty? Let's go!
Alchemy Bar
One of these days I promise we will get a drink here. Just hard doing sometimes, since we're usually walking by in either a quick pace to get to the comedy lounge or passing the opposite way after a show. Next time for sure!
Antiquarian Library
Here is the Library onboard, where you can come and read a book and relax in a nice quiet environment. Located next to Pixels on deck 4, mid-ship off of the atrium.
BBQ Restaurant
I do remember, and miss the days of the Fish & Chips station here way back in the day. The BBQ just isn't working for us personally. If you're going to do BBQ, do it right. Having meat coated in BBQ sauce and overdone mac and cheese doesn't classify you as a BBQ Restaurant. Go back to the Fish & Chips, or turn this area into something else. To get here, head to the Lido buffet and heads towards the back portion and look for stairs, head up and here will be the restaurant area.
BlueIguana Cantina
The BlueIguana Cantina is a perfect spot, during the morning and lunch to grab some delicious Mexican fare. Custom-made burritos and tacos and a big deal here, along with an awesome toppings bar, tons of sauces and things to choose from to make that burrito or taco your unique meal.
BlueIguana Tequila Bar
Once you get your tacos from the Cantina, come next door to grab a drink and hang out at the Tequila Bar. Both the Cantina & Tequila Bar are located right on the Lido deck at the main pool under the big screen.
Cabinet Bar
Really the only time this bar is used is for karaoke at night, other than that it is usually just people walking in and out and on occasion stopping for some quiet time. We still feel they could do so much more with this lounge, add a bowling alley or something. On this class it has always been a very dark and dingy lounge.
(Wouldn't this place look so much better with a bowling alley or another restaurant here?)
Cherry on Top
Looking for something sweet? Here you will find some of your favorite candies.
Club O2
Here is one of the sections for kids on board.
Coney Island Pool & Twister Waterslide
We did not get a chance to go on the slide. We also hope to see in the future Carnival doing more with the slide and pool area area, maybe doing what they did with Sunshine and redoing the Serenity deck and moving the slide to the back would be a great option.
Czar's Palace Casino
I don't say this often when we decide to donate, I mean play in the casino, but I actually doubled my money, not a dollar or two, but I was up about $100. That is until the wife came and I couldn't say no, or lie that I was out of money. My original plan worked, I took out all $20s and put in them and if I won I put it to the account, if I lost the $20 then I lost it, but the key was not to touch the money that I had won, even it was $10. I also play stupid sometimes, which actually pays. I will usually max bet on the machines (slots) and do a machine with a $5 or $10 bet and walk away with a quick $50 or $100.
Deli
This was a love/hate relationship. Now we LOVED what they did here. The menu changed and in a great way. The food was amazing and couldn't get enough of the meatball sandwiches with truffle fries, well that was until the last day of the cruise where I was in the room for most of the day being sick to my stomach. I totally blame it on me not saying no to things and not thinking clearly when I get food. They have squeeze bottles with different sauces in them. Now as I grabbed one of the bottles that was a dairy-base, it felt very warm, since they don't do anything to keep them cool, but I decided to use it anyway. Well I got a meatball sandwich and truffle fries with a few of the warm sauces. Not thinking much of it, not like I needed the food at 11 at night either. I woke up in the middle of the night very sick, it was also the only thing my wife and I didn't eat that day together. I took away from that to not touch any of the sauces if they are warm. At this point I still won't touch a item like that. That day was very brutal. I didn't come out of the room until later at night until dinner, where I had soup and bread and a dry steak. While my wife ate some of the best food of the cruise. It sucked, but you live and learn. Just be careful when eating and grabbing any type of condiment. Overall the food was great, staff not so much, very unhappy looking and not too pleasurable. Food was well worth it.
(Meatball sandwich and truffle fries. First of about 5 sandwiches.)
Diamonds Steakhouse
Carnival invited us to a night at the steakhouse. We booked it on the first night of the cruise when we get the free bottle of wine. This was maybe the best highlight and favorite part of our trip. This was the noticeable change that Carnival had on their ship. Usually their steakhouse has always been pretty good. Out of the specialty dining options, their steakhouses are near the top. Tonight when we went, it was a clear top title holder. It was not just a meal, it was a culinary experience. From the start to the stunning ending, everything was way beyond our expectations. Coming from Orlando where we have tons of options for food, the meal here didn't touch a lot of places we've been to on land. If you're heading out on a Carnival ship soon, make sure to book a meal at the steakhouse, you won't be disappointed. One con for me was that they didn't cart around the tray of meat to check out prior to the meal. Guess they stopped that.
(Salt selection for your steak.)
(Bread service.)
(Along with butter.)
(Complements of the chef, a slider. Wish they would do something new, we always get this.)
(For my app, I went with stuffed mushrooms. This was good. Loved the plating of this dish.)
(Here we have the Mushroom Risotto. Another good app.)
(I went with the Lobster Bisque, cooked perfectly! One of the best I've ever had.)
(This was the Bone Marrow. We were not a fan of this, not for us.)
(Serving my Surf & Turf.)
(Steak was a hair over for my liking, but still really good. Lobster was great!)
(Instead of the usual Loaded Potato, we wanted to go a bit different. I went with Onion Rings, super crispy, not my favorite. I prefer a battered ring, vs the breaded.)
(This was Potatoes with Wasabi, holy cow was this amazing. The Wasabi went perfectly....perfectly!)
(Finally for dessert we ordered the Art Dessert. Well at this point we were already full, so imagine this coming to the table. We saw it on the menu and wondered what it was and had to get it. When you order this, everyone at the table will need to order it.)
Emile's Lido Restaurant
This is the buffet on board the Liberty. Basic options, nothing over the top.
Flowers Atrium Lobby (Guest Services & Shore Excursions)
Once you first board the ship, you enter into the atrium lobby. Seems like every time we sail the atrium feels smaller and smaller. Still plenty of seating and different events and music throughout the night. Which sucked at midnight when you're trying to sleep in a suite and the music 4 decks below is sounding like it is outside your room. One thing we loved was the Christmas tree they had and tree lighting. Our CD NoNo did a really great job with the events here.
(Who wants to do some singing....to anything else than that song!)
(You have one here and up on 5.)
Fun Shops
Where are the $10 sales!?!? Everything was a bit lack-luster in the shops. Seems like they got rid of a lot of things to put in useless items. Not many logo items at all, barely found the ship model.
Golden Olympian Forward Dining Room
Our dining room was here, for anytime dining. Our waiter Dejan was superb, if you can, get his table. One of the nicest and funniest, down-to-earth people we've ever met on a ship. Overall the food was cooked perfectly and service was some of the best we've ever had on any cruise. Also did I mention how beautiful this dining room was. Wow, it was stunning. Beat the hell out of the 3 level nightmare of the one on Oasis, what they hell were they thinking with that design. Hey Royal, take a look at Carnival for some dining ambiance ideas.
(Dejan was an awesome waiter. Ask for him if you're heading on Liberty.)
(Crab Cake)
(Spring Rolls)
(Beef on a Stick)
(Ahi Tuna)
(Prime Rib)
(Flat Iron Steak)
Guy's Burger Joint
One of the worst decisions Carnival has ever made was adding this to their ship. The burgers are horrible, toppings are not that good and it's like eating fat and oil. I took one bite and tossed it. I really hate this place. Bring back the good burgers you used to have.
Hot & Cool Nightclub
Never made it here to the nightclub. Probably since we sleep early most of the nights. Comparing to other lines, Carnival always had better nightclubs.
Jardin Cafe (Future Cruise Deck & Internet Cafe)
Right off the casino and on the Promenade you will find a spot to get coffee, check your email and book your next Carnival cruise. A tip, make sure to ask for the drink card. Each cafe item you buy they will punch your card and after a few you get a free one.
Nassau, Bahamas
Are you even looking at this section anymore? Seriously, how many times have we been here? I lost count at this point. Today we decided to get off the ship and head into town. Nothing has changed, still the same old crappy tourist destination with a bunch of stores with shot glasses and "I've been to Nassau" shirts. Along with the frequent drug offerings by the locals. On the bright side we had a chance to do what we love doing the most, checking out the other ships in port. Today we started off with the Symphony of the Seas, which is sister to Oasis & Allure, go check out those blogs. Then my personal favorite line, Norwegian Bliss, which at that point had her booked for later in 2019 at Alaska, however switched it once we returned home to find a cheaper price on Joy, which will be receiving a dry dock soon to upgrade the ship to an American market. Did save a lot of money by switching from a Sunday to Saturday. Doesn't mean we won't ever do Bliss. Finally another new ship, MSC Seaside. One that we've looked at several times, I think once we hit the next tier with Carnival's status level we will go on another MSC cruise, since they match cruise line status. One more with Carnival and we hit Platinum, finally. Oh yea, Nassau. Ehh, this is what happens when you lose options due to your port.
(John Bull is on one of the streets near the port. We came here a few years ago. Really a one-stop shop for jewelry and handbags.)
(Our Carnival Liberty. Smallest ship at port.)
(Onto the largest ship at port and the world, Symphony of the Seas.)
(Followed by Norwegian Bliss. During this photo, our next ship. Shortly after getting home, we booked another cruise for earlier in the year and switched Bliss for Joy. For now, unless Bliss goes down for Alaska.)
Piano Man Bar
Towards the back of the Promenade is a cruise favorite of many and that is the Piano Bar on the ship. Always a hot spot at night for many. We did not have a chance to see the man behind the piano.
Pixels Photo Gallery
We did not really encounter any photographers during the trip so no need for us to come here at all. If you do, this is located in the atrium on deck 4.
Pizza
All the way at the back of the ship on the Lido deck by the aft pool you will find a spot for pizza. Carnival's pizza isn't that bad, we had the white pizza and it was enjoyable. Well I had a tiny piece of a slice since I was sick and needed some form of food. Wife loved it. Didn't notice any long lines at all, which was nice.
Port Canaveral
This is one of the easier ports to get around at. Basically look for your ship and drive to it. Each terminal is different from the next which is good and bad. We weren't in the best one, the suite area kinda sucked, didn't make it feel special. Bunch of seats, but luckily we were on very quickly.
(This was the suite guests and VIP guests waiting area, nothing fancy. Yes that is our giraffe print luggage. We've had that since our first trip.)
Promenade
Our absolute favorite part of this class and something we looked forward to was the Promenade. It's basically a few hundred feet of couches and a great chance to sit and relax and watch people walk back and forth. Something even the largest ship in the world can't offer you.
(My best photo of this cruise, unedited.)
RedFrog Rum Bar
Across from the BlueIguana on the Lido deck is the RedFrog Rum Bar.
Seafood Shack
A place that we missed out on during our trip on Conquest was the Seafood Shack. A spot, across from the pizza where you can get fresh seafood. Although we did not try this, it did look very good. Never saw people here ordering the couple times we went back. Do miss the Tandoori station they had before this. Just when we started loving that, it was gone.
(I loved how this photo came out.)
(Come to me little lobster.)
Serenity Adult-Only Retreat
We headed up here at one point. Not many people, it was on our Nassau day. Bad part when we went was that many of the cushions were still wet from the rain, so we couldn't enjoy the area.
(During your vacation count how many people actually read that sign.)
Silver Olympian Aft Dining Room
For your traditional dining times as well as breakfast, this will be your spot. We headed here for breakfast on one of the mornings. Menu was a step up from previous sailings, enjoyed our meal. Much like the Golden Olympian, the Silver also had great service.
(Broken Egg Sandwich, this was really nice.)
SkyBox Sports Bar
Came by a few times, never saw anyone here at the bar. It would have been nice to have it running throughout the day. The closest bars are either in the atrium, where it's crazy and loud at times and the casino bar, which is very smoky and overcrowded.
(Look at everyone here!)
Sports Deck
Just your traditional sports deck, nothing fancy. Also up a level is the mini golf.
Stage Lounge
Besides no one being in the pools during a sea day at noon, to this lounge being empty at night. It was an odd cruise. This place is usually always busy during the night and even during the day. Never saw anything happening here.
Stateroom 7271
We finally, after 28 cruises booked a suite. Well first of all location was horrible. We were right off the lobby on deck 7, the atrium starts on deck 3 and goes up to 10. We heard everything, no matter the time of day, or night. Even we walked towards the back and still heard it just as loud, about 20 rooms towards the mid-ship. Back to our room. Very spacious, which was nice. Wished we did it for a longer cruise. Plenty of space for clothes and your personal items. I only used one of the closets, the other one near the bathroom I opted not using since we didn't have many hangables. The bathroom we loved, still nothing beats your own toilet at home for those rough days. We had a tub with water jets. So one of the days I tried doing a bubble bath, well that didn't go too well. For starters I put way too much soapy stuff in and had suds everywhere. Then I would try putting the jets on and water went everywhere. It was a lot of fun though. Again location not the best, really our own fault there. But for a suite it shouldn't have been that bad. We would get another suite again, not every time though, just special occasions.
(Plenty of room. Balcony was decent.)
(Two sinks.)
(Not a huge tub.)
(A view from the bed.)
(Just one of the closets.)
(Some treats from the hotel manager.)
(How we miss you on our bed!)
(These were interesting.)
Sushi
Across from the deli on the other side of the ship is the Sushi section. Since Carnival failed with the sushi and having it in every spot known to man on this class, not having to pay. At this point we walk right past this section. Honestly just raise the price by a few bucks and make it free. Still getting your money for it without me putting a negative review on it.
Tivoli Mail Pool & Seaside Theater
The movie selection was a bit crappy on Liberty, which kinds sucked since we were looking forward to watching a movie or two. We did not use any of the pools during the trip. Also on the sea day it wasn't too bad with people packing into this poor or the aft, which was odd for Carnival. Around the main pool, you will have parties, music and food.
Venetian Palace Main Show Lounge
We had two shows, the first was Flick, which is only a few years old and one I've been wanting to see. Honestly wasn't a huge fan of the show itself. Our other show was America Rocks, the preshow you have a chance to get a tattoo, well fake of course. What does this look like Virgin cruises? That show was good. Other events here were the standard Bingo and Hasbro: The Game Show.
(They also did a special Holiday show for the cruise since it was during Christmas.)
Versailles Aft Pool
Here we are at the aft pool. One thing we noticed, we were here around noon on a sea day, no one was in the pool. Very odd. At this location you can find a ice cream machine, bar, pizza and the Seafood Shack.
Victoria Aft Lounge
We spent many nights here. We had Mike Macy as one of our comedians, he is one of Carnival's top and he is worth checking out. We went to probably all of his "R" rated shows and no show was a repeat skit, all was funny and entertaining. He messed around with the crowd, but it was all out of love and fun. Not like some who just do it to try and be funny. I'd probably book again just to see another one of his shows.
Thank you for coming along with us on our 29th cruise on Carnival Liberty. A class of ship that was our first and our favorite. We look forward to our next adventure and can't wait to show you that. Until then, make sure to find us on FACEBOOK and check out all of our other cruises we've been on. If you're a Disney fan head over to our Disney Addict Junkie blog to check out our adventures there as well!

(Ahi Tuna)
(Prime Rib)
(Flat Iron Steak)
(My wife and I saw a video right before the cruise on cruise hacks. One of those hacks was adding peanut butter to the Chocolate Melting Cake, it was awesome. My wife ordered it every night, and she never does that.)
Guy's Burger Joint
One of the worst decisions Carnival has ever made was adding this to their ship. The burgers are horrible, toppings are not that good and it's like eating fat and oil. I took one bite and tossed it. I really hate this place. Bring back the good burgers you used to have.
(My wife brought me the Chili Burger, disgusting!)
(Here comes the new MSC Seaside, well everyone but us is new. One ship that we've had a strong eye on, but as of this blog decided on Regal Princess.)
(These were for the soups.)
(I like to call this sex on a plate, I'm not usually one for avocado, but damn this is good!)
(This was around noon on a seaday. Never seen this before!)
Loved this, it really helped me decide to book it
